mozzie-slayer asked: Hello! (-: I'm interested in taking environmental studies. Could you tell me what your experience has been like and some advice?
Hello! So far I’ve mostly had really positive experiences with my course, because I am a horrible information hoarder and the fact that it is multi-disciplinary has really kept me engaged. I particularly like the fact that I can link and use things I learn from different subjects to be applied in whole new aspects and projects, which is always fun to do. However, because my subjects are so broad (I’ve done things from environmental law to ecology analysis, and most of my semesters have at least two modules that are very disparate) it can sometimes be a bit hard to keep up. But if you are interested in a whole bunch of different aspects of the environment, then this may be the course for you! Of course, my experiences are mostly relevant to the Bachelor of Environmental Studies course in the National University of Singapore, but from what I know environmental studies can be pretty different in other universities, with some leaning more towards liberal arts and some towards more science-based learning.
So I guess despite all my yammering, I don’t think I can really give you any advice because unless you are specifically hoping to get into my course hahaha. I guess the only thing I can really tell you is to read up on what the course offers, and whether you think you would be interested in it. I hope this helped a bit, and good luck! (:
